Hi Everyone ! This is Danni from IELLO Customer Service!
I thought I’d introduce you all to some possibly unnoticed Easter Eggs in a few of our games. These were a surprise to even me, and I spend most of my day handling all the little pieces of the games!
The first game I’m featuring is Night of the Grand Octopus – a Lovecraftian-themed game where everyone is a cultist trying to successfully awaken the Grand Octopus.
We’ll start off sweet and simple. On the (English & French) box cover of the game, some may have noticed the loving homage to the Grand Octopus’s Mum on its chest.
I know, not very difficult, but hey! We’re still warming up our Easter Egg-finding skills.
The rest of this post will focus on the seventh Location boards and their fun hidden gems. The Location above is the Colony of the Moon Men, and among them you may recognize some familiar faces. In the center, there is a Teletubby waiting to be dissected, and, on the upper-left side, an Alien half-hidden behind a piller.
In the Agoba Marsh, there are more than a few Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back references. The name already should give you a hint; in French this tile is called le Marais d’Agoba. The reference doesn’t translate 100% into English, but some may still make the oral connection to Yoda’s home planet of Daghoba! The hut’s name on the sign reads Yogurt, which, for those of you have seen Spaceballs, should remind you of the Yoda parody played by Mel Brooks. In the water, there is very clearly some sort of monster (might it be the snake-like monster who ate R2D2?). You can also see the periscope of R2D2 poking out of the water on the right side. Finally, on the grass by the hut, there is a stack of rocks floating under the effect of the Force while Luke is in training.
In our last feature of the post, we explore the Lost City. You can very clearly see Nemo floating around the waters, and also the robot-camera from The Abyss. On the left side, Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid also makes an appearance.
That’s all for this post, but there are still more Easter Eggs to find on the main board of THE NIGHT OF THE GRAND OCTOPUS.
